KSiteTV has gotten official studio confirmation that Darvill has been cast as a series regular role on the still-untitled Arrow/Flash superhero team-up project as Rip Hunter. The character is described as "a roguish time traveler who hides the strains of being responsible for history itself behind a facade of charm and wit." Rip Hunter first appeared in DC Comics with Showcase #19 in 1959. He had his own comic book series Rip Hunter... Time Master which lasted for 29 issues between 1961-1965 and played an important role in the recent Booster Gold comic book series written by Geoff Johns. The character was also featured in Time Masters: Vanishing Point by Dan Jurgens.
Darvill, whose recent credits also include ONCE on Broadway and Treasure Island at the National Theatre, joins Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz, Victor Garber, Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, and the recently-cast Ciara Renee in the series, which is being eyed for midseason on The CW. The show will incorporate characters from both the Arrow and Flash parent series, as well as introducing some new ones from the DC Comics world, including Rip Hunter.
