Man, 60, weeps over teen lover’s unfaithfulnessPublished on 22/06/2009

A man in his early 60’s cried in public when he found his teenage lover in bed with another man.
The man identified as Kuria from Kihingo, Limuru, had decided to spend the night with his lover after quarrelling with his wife.
According to sources, Kuria, a retired civil servant and a father of seven, had developed a steamy affair with the IT student about a year ago and kept it a secret till a month ago.
It is alleged that his family suffered after he started channelling all their resources to the teenage lover.
He spent the proceeds from selling their dairy cows and a quarter acre of their land in feeding and paying her education at a Nairobi college.
His wife and elder son had questioned him but all in vain. Kuria arrogantly dismissed them saying as the family head and owner of the property, he had the right to use it the way it pleased him. He also brushed aside interventions from his extended family members.
On the material day, it is said that he quarrelled with his wife after an informer revealed to her that he was harbouring a mistress in Limuru town. Infuriated, he boastfully stormed out at night promising to teach her a painful lesson.
Inner room
He went to Limuru town where he had rented his lover a one-bedroom apartment. He planned to spend the night with her and deliberately cause anxiety to his distraught wife.
He made his way to his lover’s room. He persistently knocked at the door without any reply. He could, however, hear voices from the house. Suspecting foul play, he forced the wooden door open and headed to the inner room.
What he saw will forever remain etched in his mind. His lover was in bed with an unknown man. The stranger, quite in shock, slithered under the bed as Kuria made a futile attempt to attack him. The girl remained in bed too shocked to move or say a word.
"Ngai waithera wakwa, ni ngoma iriku ici (my God Waithera what the devil is this)," Kuria exclaimed as he stared in disbelief at his naked lover.
Without uttering a word, he stormed out of the house and wept uncontrollably in the corridor.
The ruckus attracted the girl’s neighbours who flocked to witness the drama. Kuria was lamenting bitterly and loudly of how Waithera, his mistress, had betrayed him. He described vividly how he had fed, clothed and paid her school fees only for her to treat him like trash.
Unknown to him, the girl was having affairs with other men her age.
Deaf ears
Pleas from the neighbours for him to pick himself up and proceed home because he was causing unnecessary disturbance fell on deaf ears. He instead accused them of openly applauding Waithera for the cruel treatment.
Some aggravated youths rebuked him saying that he ought to be ashamed for having an affair with a teenager who according to them, was like his daughter.
All that time, the said Waithera and the man she was caught in bed with did not make any appearance.
Kuria left after the young men in the area threatened to thrash him for what they termed as intolerable behaviour.
Upon hearing his ordeal, his wife is said to have celebrated saying that his sins had finally caught up with him.
