Check the merchant every day. He sometimes sells livid plants that give you points. I didn't touch livid farms once and I have everything unlocked.

Livid Farm is really painfully boring. When I wanted DShield I just did a little every day as well as bought the merchant when they had it. Set up an alarm or something from the wiki to ping you when it's on sale - dates can show in the future when it's on sale.
