Actually, despite hating Ohio State and the majority of the Big 10 with a passion on the same level of broccoli and prostate cancer, I have to side with the players on this one. They rightfully won and were given those items and they should not be penalized for selling their private property. The NCAA makes millions a year off of the players from advertising, memorabilia, etc., yet they think it is fair to sit out what is essentially the core of their offense for half of the season because they sold something that belongs to them. Keep in mind that by doing this the are going to significantly impact viewer ratings for Ohio State's games next year as well as potentially attendence, and will obviously hurt them in rankings as well as during actualy gameplay.
However, what pisses me off more than anything else about the NCAA is how, like in the Scam Newton ordeal, they literally make up their own rules in order to preserve TV ratings for this year. Instead of standing by their punishment (albeit ridiculous) immediately following said infraction, they arbitrarily assign the punishment FOLLOWING the Sugar Bowl game, which will be an obvious cash cow for the NCAA.
I seriously hope those Ohio State players hire the best freaking lawyer available and take this as far as need be to get it resolved. It's time the NCAA is accountable for their segregated selectivity.
