i've never been in this subsection, but i'm having a halo related issue and was hoping someone might have a solution or idea pertaining to my issue

i bought halo reach a few days ago, my xbox couldn't read it, so i exchanged it for another copy, which it also couldn't read

called tech support, they were no help and just said it was the cd having issues

i did some research and found that there is a compatibility issue with some xbox systems (mainly the 'pro' version, which is what i have)

would anyone know of any possible solutions for this, other than buying a new xbox?

Does your xbox read other discs?

yeah, i tried halo 3 and GTA IV and they both work fine

from what i have read, there is some compatibility issue between halo reach and some versions of the 360, but idk if there is a way to overcome that or not

like when i put the game in, it comes up as either a dvd or 'mixed media' disc..then when i try to play it, it just goes up to the generic xbox 360 screen and stays there

If it doesnt read any other discs then you have a disc drive failure and it needs to be repaired

it does read other discs, just not reach

tbh the only reason solution is to give xbox another call and tell them about it (bungie recognized this problem like a week after it came out) or get a new xbox.

i called xbox twice, the first time they told me the only thing i could do was to pay to download it directly from xbox live (i don't even think that is an option yet)..the second time they told me i can pay to have it 'fixed' even though it isn't actually broken

so it seems i need a new xbox just so i can play it then

was just hoping there would be some fun way around it like a manual upgrade or something
