Just got matched up against a team of three onyx people...
Is the matchmaking completely random in this game?
I'm gold and my team was 2 non rated and another gold

The matchmaking system feeds off tears, that's why.

you're SUPPOSED to be ranked with people of close skill level to yours

maybe there's so few people up at the onyx/gold skill level that it matches them together?

idk, i don't even have a color yet >< 1625 highest rating ive ever gotten.

You get matched up via trueskill/stigma system. The rating is just for show/putting you in your division, it doesn't have anything to do with getting matched up with other people.
