Asus is a great company for laptops, they make powerhouses. I was going to get one for college but its battery life was way to short for me because I'd be carrying it around all day on me. That's why I went with a Dell XPS15. It had very similar specs but a far greater battery life. And the fact the fan was on the side, instead of the bottom, was a huge plus for me :D

Alienwares are very nice too, but most are overpriced imo. Some are well worth the money though

My Asus has about a 45 minute battery life when watching a movie or playing a game haha.

Yeah, that's the only thing I like about Macs though. Besides that, I despise them. My XPS15 has about a 4-6 hour battery watching videos/surfing the web, about 1-1.5 hours when I play WoW. So it works in both aspects, for gaming and for practical school uses
