It's not opinion, it's an absolute fact. Bungie has been dumbing the game down with each sequel, all you have to look at is auto aim, bullet magnetism, etc. They're purposefully making the game easier to play so they sell more games.

p.s. I've been using xbc since CE. I'm not acting like it's some huge new development, I just want some more people to play H2.

Auto aim and magnetism has been turned down since h2.

It was a huge step down in h3 from h2 magnetism, but idk about reach since nobody has mentioned it where I've looked.

As long as you keep posting your opinion with the wording of fact I will bait you all day, :D

Most people base their opinion of competitiveness off of which was the fastest pace, which is def CE > 2 > Reach > 3.
In terms of which had most competition it will go Reach > 3 > 2 > CE

so let me know what you really think it is.

If you base it off that, you have no clue what you're talking about. Competitiveness of a game, for the most part, is judged by how large the skill ceiling is. CE had almost no skill ceiling, Halo 2 had a high one, H3 lower, Reach(by far) the lowest. Also, what do you mean by "most competition"? In terms of population, Reach has the fewest online players, and will have the lowest population at events since CE.

Bad wording I guess, but my point is still valid. 3/Reach have a lot magnetism, huge hitboxes, and a sandbox of easy-to-use weapons, all in an attempt to make the game easy to play. CoD has a huge following because, for the most part, it's a very easy game to play, which is what Bungie was trying to accomplish by dumbing down the games.

And, for the most part, I've backed up every word I've said, something that you have reciprocated. The only thing I've seen from "Teh Elite Honor" has been a bunch of unsubstantiated comments.

Not that it matters, but I've played with more Halo 3 pros than you even know. X I Panic X I is my tag if you really care.

I can't name any, but that's beside the point. All of the obvious ones(All the CoD games, H2/3, etc.) got huge patches that made them good/playable. Bungie has made it apparent that they won't be patching Reach like they did for H2. i.e., not a huge patch, which Reach clearly needs to be good.

Adapting to a game doesn't make it a good game. Donaldbalbu might be the best Viva Pinata player but it doesn't make the game good. And, lol that you think the pros like Reach.

Umm cool I know for a fact I've played with more pros on lan and on live seeing as I was pro...the only patch halo 3 got was the melee one and everyone hated it. halo 2s patch was insane though so i won't argue there.

Obviously adapting to game won't make it good...I hated halo 3 but i still played it because i was able to adapt to it and have fun with it. The same will be for reach as more and more people get used to it.

I know pros like reach because I've actually talked to many of them so please don't act like you know what you are talking about.

edit:

that is true because bungie is trying to gain more people to play their games so they made reach a combination of cod/halo.

CoD has a following because you can be good at it with one brain cell due to lack of any requirements other than creating your class to rapesauce.
^ Forgot this isn't required, default has M16/Famas/Bar99/whatever you need to go 40-0.

They haven't "dumbed" Halo down, they've put in a number of features the community wanted that are excluded from competitive (read:MLG) playlists to keep them out of environments that matter.

I'm not sure why you're bringing CoD into this anyway, and 3 has by far the most competition so far in a Halo game.

You can see this from GB ladders and leagues alone, before considering the huge commercial sponsorship and endorsement of top 8 teams within the major leagues.

Other involvement like Astro and other companies promoted Halo 3 beyond H2's dreams.

I wasn't actually around for the H3 patch, so I was just going off what I've heard from people a year after the fact.

It isn't hard to adapt to Reach, it's not THAT different from any other game, but again, it doesn't make the game good. As soon as a game comes out that dwarfs Reach's competitiveness(Which has already happened: SC2), they'll abandon Reach as the flagship game and move on to something better. It would be a different story if people actually enjoyed Reach, but so many people, competitive and non-competitive players both, hate the game, so they obviously aren't going to watch/participate in MLG events. I'm sure I've already said this, but the only reason Halo 3 stayed the flagship game for so long was the large amount of people it brought to MLG.

I don't know about recently, but a month or two after Reach came out, when I was active in the MLG community, the vast majority of pros hated the game. The most prominent example is Enable, who said something along the lines of "The game fucking sucks." Even the pros who didn't want to bash MLG's new flagship game had masked critiques.

Why would you say SC2 dwarfed reach?

NOTHING can touch SC/SC2 in long term competitiveness, that's like saying China's population dwarfs the U.S, we all already knew it happened and was going to happen.

edit: also, the link between Chinese population and SC player count, forgot that.

So "dumbing down" isn't the same as "making the game easier"? I can't think of a single change in Reach that made it more competitive than Halo 3. The same for CE to Halo 2.

I'm bringing CoD into it because CoD is the perfect example of what Bungie was trying to create: A game that is appealing to all players. They obviously failed miserably, but it's still a good example. And, last time I checked, popularity =/= competitiveness. Gamebattles isn't competitive. A better example is that Halo 2 had 2-3x more events a year than Halo 3 had.

As for sponsorships, it's purely because it's now the internet age. Also, Astro is probably the worst possible example you could have chosen. They gained popularity from MLG, not the other way around. Before sponsoring MLG, Astro was an average gaming accessory company, now they're one of the best in the business.

CoD is a completely different game and shouldn't have been bought here in the first place (lol I'm witty as fuck, spot the pun).

If the game was no skill or easy then everyone would play at exactly the same level and every game would be a draw, honestly.

Oh, I wouldn't overdo Astro though, they aren't one of the best in the business, they're not even good.

CoD's a FPS, it isn't that much different than Halo. Comparing Halos to only other Halos is pointless, it gives no real comparison.

I never said CoD took no skill, I said it was easy for most people to play. I've played CoD pros and gotten completely fucking destroyed, but playing pubs is obviously incredibly easy.

"Best" as in "most popular." Don't know the exact figures, but I'm sure they're either #1 or 2 in the business. I personally like Astros more than any other headset out there, but that's just me.
