there are so many reasons why this question is stupid. but since u havent played halo 2 or 3 before, ill excuse ur stupidity.
the ranking system will do so much for halo reach...
people ACTUALLY want to win with a ranking system... they wont go off trying to get kills in a flag game instead of actaulyl capping a flag.
in halo reach, most people dont care about winning... since k/d ratio is the only thing to show off ur skill level people try to hog all powwer weapons and get actually try to steal kills just so they have there k/d ratio as bragging rights...
with a ranking system people will mostly only care about winning and not their indivdual stats because there level is the only thing that is important to them
for the most part, it makes the game way more competitive
it also makes winning more fun and exciting for people
ur prolly going to say sumthing about cheaters or sumthing or boosters... there werent that many cheaters in halo 3 even at level 50... only game types like squad battle had cheaters
as for the boosters... who cares if they have a 50, they know its not legit so they dont get that self-satisfaction that u get when u get a legit 50
there are more reasons but those are the main ones
I'll address this post in parts, because there are so many things wrong with it.
I've been playing Halo since the month CE was released.
Yes, they will, but the number of cheaters/derankers will off-set the number of "kill whores" lost.
It doesn't make it any more competitive at all, it just
feels more competitive because your precious rank is on the line.
Finally, something true. It only really applies to casual players who aren't very good at the game, but that's that's most of the Reach players, so good job

Are you kidding? In MLG, I'd go as far as to say that 20% of games had a cheater or deranker in them, and that number went up substantially the lower rank you are. Cheaters in Halo 3 ran
rampant, and they did so in every ranked playlist at every level bracket. Not to mention that 1/3 of the players in the low level bracket(Say, 1-30 or so) were second accounts created by people to just run a train on low levels. And of course I'm going to comment on boosters/cheaters, why do you think they took the ranking system out of Reach?
Yes, because cheating/boosting/buying accounts never happened in Halo 3 for this reason. Oh wait...
