yeah it's pretty cool that I can play halo 2 on official M$ servers on my PC without all this gay shit

Are those servers still up? And do you need a legit copy of H2 to play on them, or could I just download the game and play? I've always liked the console versions more, but the population is shit and the connection is pretty bad on XBC.
