plus most of the time the sec plays overrated big 10 schools, and if mccoy didn't get hurt in the game and if mac brown didn't care for mccoy's future texas would have beaten alabama
inb4injurieshappeninfootball i know this i was just saying what would have happened if he actually played, but mac wouldn't let him go back in.

holy shit look at this... only wins are against overrated shit big ten teams... 3-4 otherwise

*The caveat: That postseason success is due in part to a relatively lightweight bowl schedule. That 16-6 mark includes an 8-0 record in bowl games against teams from outside the six major conferences. The Big East has played 36.3 percent of its bowl games in the past four seasons against teams from the MAC or Conference USA.

Let's face it - the SEC has dominated the BCS bowl era for quite some time and shows no signs of slowing down. We secure the best recruits, have the largest television audiences, have the most NFL draftees, are tied with the Big 12 for the most national championship games that we have been in, and have won the most national championship games. There will be off years for some teams (see the SEC East this year), but that still doesn't take away from the fact that top-to-bottom, year-in and year-out, the SEC is the best conference in the nation. I welcome you to try to prove me otherwise.

no i won't use that excuse but what is the sec's graduation rate of its players? below 50% i think it is, well the NCAA is trying to push a min required graduation rate for sports or the whole program be placed on academic probation. college is supposed to be a place to go to higher your education not to play sports, but the sec, big 12 and a couple other conferences have it the other way around when it comes to that. the reason urban meyers quit notre dame was because he wanted to recruit ONE player with a GPA of 2.8 and Notre Dame said no we are not lowering our standards for one player. now he went to florida and recruited the same kid with ease. it just goes to show that the sec conference sucks. btw do you know who won the more important championship last year?

What do graduation rates have to do with football? Either way, you are incorrect. Over 60% of players graduate.

http://www.tarheelfanblog.com/2008/10/acc-leads-all-conferences-in-football-graduation-rate/

This is from 2008 but I'm too lazy to look up stats from last year...I would imagine they are basically the same.

The only conference that really "stands out" in terms of graduation rates is the ACC, and even they only have 11.8% higher graduation rate. However, among the recent "big" football conferences, there is only a 6% graduation rate difference between them. Quite frankly, I don't find the .8% difference between the SEC and Pac10 and the 2.7% difference between us and Big 12 to be very significant.

Furthermore, I absolutely HATE the "graduation rate" argument because it doesn't take into account the players that leave school early to go play in the NFL. Since, like I mentioned before, the SEC leads the way in NFL draftees every year, OF COURSE that is going to hurt graduation rates. Should our conference be penalized and scrutinized because we have more players (many of whom WERE making adequate grades, mind you) who decide to leave early for the NFL since they are good? Of course not!

Like it or not, most of the football players who go on a football scholarship to play Div. 1 ball in a BCS conference don't give 2 craps about their communication degree...they have their eyes set on one prize: the NFL - and they would drop their academics in a hearteat to go make millions of dollars a year doing something they love.

then make them pay to play at the college's they should not be given a free ride to a school they won't stay at. idk if you watched the sugar bowl when notre dame played lsu, but the announcers were making fun of 6 players on the lsu defense for failing the sat asking how can they play football when they can't get above a 600 on the old sat. to me that is pathetic if you can't pass one of them. plus penn state offers a "football class" where only football players are able to take and if you choose to take it you get yelled at by everybody there becuase joe pa teaches it and doesn't do shit with the class. yes most players keep "adequate" grades but are they really the grades they deserved or do they get better grades becuase they are football players?

You are completely diverting away from the original topic. Either way, like it or not, most of the upper-tier players in division 1 ball merely view college as a stepping stone on their way to NFL careers. If you want people to try harder academically in school then don't pay them so stinking much to be pro players...then they'll have to worry about actually finishing school and applying their degree. However, we both know that won't ever happen so you might as well accept the status quo or cheer for the Vanderbilt/Dukes of the world and be happy with your 4 to 5 win seasons.

i myself am a notre dame fan and with more national championships than sec teams (alabama claims they have the most but ncaa only recognizes like 7) and hiesman players and 2nd most wins in college football while still maintaining a 90%+ grad rate

Alabama has 13 claimed national championships compared to Notre Dame's 11. If you are going to call out Alabama for not having all of them recognized by the NCAA then you better know that the same holds true for Notre Dame.

Either way, I couldn't care less about what either team did 80 years ago, nor what their graduation rate is.

Also, Notre Dame would have its ass handed to them by at least half of the SEC teams, and this has been the case for about a decade now.
