From experience basically.
I normally don't change the ISO much, usually leave it around 100-200, SOMETIMES 400 depending on the lighting.
I hardly ever touch 1600 ISO, because it normally makes the photo noisy.

Changing the fstop also lets you get better bokeh in the background.

Composition is probably the biggest part of photography.
Not trying to brag, but for some reason I've always had an eye for composition, even when I was little taking pictures with those throw-away cameras/cheap digital cameras.

A picture can only be as good as it's composition, imo.
It can be exposed well, have a good subject, but if the composition is bad it's just like "wat."
