its based on ratings, it doesnt matter what your k/d is

Wrong.

It's all factored, but it is not based on one alone.

Doing 'well' and your 'rating' are not necessarily coinciding.

I just went 19-2, with a Running Riot, 9 Snipes, etc. and only scored 1601, though I'm positive it brought me closer to getting back to my Onyx Division.

19 kills is tight but you only got a 1601 because 0 assists

kills + your rating
assists + your rating
deaths - your rating
winning the game + your rating

Where do you find out what you're in?

You don't "find out."

Most people aren't in a Division yet, today, but many many many will be tomorrow.

After you've been ranked in Team (or Doubles - separate) Arena for SEVEN (7) days, after your 3 games on the seventh day, you will receive a notification during Post-Game, and you'll see a symbol ON your nameplate - along with your rating, gamertag, social rank, bungie symbol, etc.

Everyone will be able to see your rank inside lobbies.

If you go to your service record and look at your Arena statistics, you can also see how many days you have been ranked.

Today was my 7th day - I've played 3+ games to receive a rank, everyday, since the day the game came out - Today is day 7, and is the earliest people can be receiving Divisions.

You'll get yours once you've played for 7 days.

If you get, let's say, a Silver Star, and keep doing better and better - you will be promoted to Gold, etc.

Hope this answered a few questions people might have.

4 Assists.

---------------

Oh - Also.

As you may have guessed, the better the people are (rating-wise) that you do well against, the more it will benefit you.

But just because someone has a high rating does not mean they're necessarily "good."

Also --> For those of you that think "I played 3 games, got my rating, now I'm just going to fuck around" - You will tank your Division.

As I've said, your Rating is not the same as your TrueSkill aka Division placement.

Play every game as best you can.

And lastly - Based on this system of Divisions, Win / Loss doesn't necessarily matter. TrueSkill is based on individual performance.

Though rating is a decent guideline as to how well someone is performing, it is not THE deciding factor.

anyways i was i talking about an overall k/d on an account, not the k/d of a single game
obviously the k/d of a single game contributes to your game rating but it doesnt matter if your k/d is .54 or 4.21 when it comes to divisions

Unless you do noticeably better / worse, your division will stay the same. You need to perform well to go up a Division.

I'm 'pretty' sure that your Division stays until the end of the 'Season' which tells you how many days are left, every time you log on for your first game.

Your Division will affect the 'TrueSkill' levels of the players you're matched up with throughout the season
