I'm not 100% happy since it's not bungie, but only time will tell whether or not it'll be awesome.

The trailer to Halo CE obviously displayed some assassination action. Fuck no. Why do they wanna change the core mechanics like that? It's the only thing I can assume is happening..

Because if they just re-released CE on the 360/XBL, they would get very few sales. All developers develop to sell games, and the "hardcore" Halo audience is a huge minority. Shit like assassination animations appeal to the casual player, therefore stuff like that makes it into games.
