You're doing it wrong.

A40's are better than almost anything. I haven't tried HPX's, but A40's > all the other TB's I've tried.

the x41's aren't bad I have both the sound is a bit more realistic with the a40s though

Yeah the x41's are nice. They're about the same sound quality(A40's maybe a little better), but the A40's are more comfortable.

IMO the sound quality for all of the ones I've tried are roughly the same. Some are a little better than others(A40's being the best to me), but really, after a certain point, having such high sound quality doesn't really matter.

Only with low end amps or low bitrate audio...
