He probably means trueskill.

The matching system in Reach works roughly the same way as it did in H3. I heard there were a few small changes, but the basic premise of the system is the same. You go "up" more for winning against opponents with a high trueskill than you do for winning against opponents with a low trueskill. You go "down" more for losing to worse players, etc. It's invisible, but it's still present.

I have mixed feelings about this. Initially, I feel as though it took away a lot of the competitive feel. But, knowing that there is a trueskill system adds to that. Furthermore, the game feels far more casual, which I kind of like since I don't play it as much anymore.

Ask Kevin or Loadstone.

There was trueskill in H3, and H2. Your visible rank wasn't always proportional to your trueskill.

I know that. But, at least there was some sort of representation.

Yeah. When Bungie first announced that were weren't going to be ranks, I was happy because there would be virtually no cheating, but the reality is that some cheating is better than not being able to play a fair game. I don't think I've ever gone 3 games in a row on Reach without someone quitting out. There's just no incentive to actually stay in the game.
