Yeah, I've been meaning to go preorder Gears so I can check out the Beta but so far I've been lazy/half-playing Crysis 2.
Btw, have I mentioned (I know I have...rhetorical question) how incredibly, stupidly easy COD games and its plethora of FPS clones are? They are all just a big game and peek-a-boo, where the first person to see the other wins 95% of the fights. It's so dumb.
You know what my favorite gametype of any FPS is? 400% health on Halo 1 with no plasma nades/plasma rifle. It was like Halo meets Virtua Fighter up in this bitch. You had to learn to kung-fu rape the opponent all the while straffing and hitting him with pistol shots in hopes of getting him down to no shield long enough to pull off the fatal head shot. I swear, nothing is more redeeming and refreshing than seeing your opponent do the "OMG I just got shot in the head so I'm going to do a graceful 360 spin as I fall to the ground" act after you spent the last 30 seconds dancing around him pistol whipping his ass and dumping bullets all over his body like you are fucking robocop on ecstacy.
Good luck on your senior design project. I remember mine quite well. Ah, I miss being college (the fun, undergrad part...fuck this working full time and doing gradaute work on the side stuff).
We need to meet up fo real.
Yeah, the CoD games are terrible. I can't ever play them alone since they're so boring; I play occasionally with a group of 5 or 6 guys but then it's just set up on a map and win games by like 50 kills. I just wish Reach didn't suck so much. Some of my favorite halo days were playing infinite nades on halo ce, epic long range nade battles. Need to bust that game back out.
I've already talked to Deezy about hanging out once I move up, we'll have to set something up.

gears 3 gonna actually be good?(others sucked)
and on another note to brandon, lakers are winning it all again

Gears 1 and 2 had major connection issues (host can run through an entire team, etc) and the weapon balancing was terrible (the lancer/hammerburst couldn't down someone unless you had teamshooting, so people just used nothing but shotgun). The Gears 3 Beta has awesome connection with the dedicated servers, and they adjusted the weapon balance so the rifles are entirely usable. I've never been a fan of 3rd person shooters but this one is sick. I'm getting better at wall-bouncing and maneuvering, which I consider comparable to strafing in halo. My favorite thing is that dying is entirely your fault, either for not being as good or someone catching you unaware. When the servers have been up, I haven't blamed a single death on connection.
