They attempted to make Reach a casual player-friendly game, which they did. Kind of. Bungie has never given a shit about the competitive community because the casual community is so much larger. They probably don't give a flying fuck now because the game has been released and everyone knows it's a disaster, but I'm sure they tried their hardest to create a good game pre-release.

If you don't think I'm serious you haven't been a Halo player for very long.

What i've never gotten is how come they listen to casual gamers? There's more of them? So what. Competitive gamers play Halo more, at a higher level, learn the game, learn the spawns, the mechanics, everything. They know how the game is played, and what needs to be changed improved, more accurately addresses real problems, and in most cases suggests possible solutions. Tell me why those are the people Bungie ignores.

Because we're're the minority. The vast majority of Bungie's revenue comes from the casual gamers, not the competitive ones. The casual gamers not only buy more games, but they also spend more msp on the maps and other superfluous stuff that most competitive gamers don't bother with. The casual gamers are also the ones that frequent the Bnet forums, which is where most of Bungie's feedback comes from I'm sure.

Because you're addressing things that competitive gamers learn/adapt to in-game.
In-game. Meaning they already bought the game.
There are more casual gamers that will buy the game, therefore addressing their needs instead of the competitive scene makes more sense.

They put tons of work into Reach, what have you seen that would indicate otherwise? The campaign is fun and interesting, there are a ton of firefight options/maps etc., there are a ton of Forgeworld options, the graphics of the game are really good, there are plenty of fun MM playlists. The list could go on and on. These are all things that take a lot of work to produce, and they target Bungie's main consumer: the casual gamer. Wasn't Reach the highest-selling 360 game before Black Ops came along? They accomplished what any good gaming company wants to accomplish: Sell a ton of games.

just because more people play now then used means most sold game on opening means nothing to look at sales figures... only 50mill more when easily triple the number of people have xboxs
