I know that FFXIV in the ToS it specifically outlines trading anything outside of the game for currency in game is against ToS, so I just wonder how do you all do it safely, and do people get caught often? It's kind of keeping me away from pulling the trigger on buying Gil tbh.

So, I look at it like this; you put an item in the trade window, and it's up to the other trader to determine what that items value is. That being said, how can they regulate a transaction that is determined by 2 people that is a mechanic in the game? If that makes sense.

so its common for people to place a dummy item for their trades?

they cant prove you're not just giving cash to friends or that they didnt ask to borrow money etc. Unless there's a recorded conversation with key words like gil for $$, you say stuff like hey man, you needed to borrow 12m gil? or 12m gil vs 12000fg or whatever, there ingame monitors wont pick up stuff like that unless an actual currency is named.

it can also be like ... you're paying for a service such as ... this person helped you finished a few ex savage dungeons ... and u promised to pay him 12million for it ... SE can't do shit about it.

just don't mention anything about FG .. jsp ... trading gil for FG or real money .. then you are good.
