Well this is unexpected. I will take back every bad thing I've ever said about square-enix as long as they don't mess this up like turning Cloud emo. The trailer looked pretty cool too.

I'm so fucking excited for this.

I hope they leave it exactly the same as the original with some extra end-game content. They could change some small things, maybe like monster locations, add in some extra areas only reachable by a new flying chocobo, and then things like the code for Zero Bahamut and the lock combination for Odin/Vincent, just to throw off some of the people like myself who have that entire game memorized.

I'll be doing a very slow play-through on my first go and then I'll do a speed run to Emerald/Ruby. I just can't believe it's finally happening, I've waited years for this.

I'd love to see an FFVIII one though, mainly because it 8 is a very cinematic game... it's probably the FF game that needs a graphical update the most. I don't mean to say it hasn't aged well, but it's a game that loses potential without great graphics.

I just want to see an actual game play video, to see if it's still going to be like the original. I hope other then graphically nothing changes. That being said, I can't wait!
