hello!

i'm looking for a new MMORPG to play and i was wondering if XIV A Realm Reborn is any good.

what i am looking for:

-a lively community
-customization
-character build variety (like how GW1 had 1000+ skills with unlimited combinations)
-good PVP
-challenging PVE areas (not the main story line)

what i am not looking for:

-level grinding
-generic quests, for example, kill X number of pigs/find X number of pig tails/ bring them back and be rewarded 3000xp and 500g
-no replay value

It's all about grinding. Not in the traditional form of killing stuff for exp necessarily, but very repetitive simple missions and events without much diversity in task. The thing is, the game is all about how you can level up every job on 1 char by changing your gear. So you can look forward to grinding out every damn job there is. I think i just quit the game tonight so maybe Im a biased source. But the game had me pulling my hair out when you finish a quest and it gives you no way to find the next quest you need to do, and searching the name of the quest you need to find yields no results that get you anywhere.

WHat I did find was forum posts describing the exact same experience. I could register on those forums post my problem and get my answer, but from a pay to play big brand game such as FF I think being able to find the next quest isnt too much to ask for. I dont want to play a game with headaches, I want to have fun.

Your "what im not looking for" section describes my experience perfectly.

Probably not the best mmo for you,
There are a lot of generic quests outside of the main story, the main story quest line is good though. PvP is rather lackluster, theres not really a build variety, cross class skills are available but thats just more grinding on other classes you may or may not play. Crafting is unique though.
IMO if you want more customization and PvP I'd give Rift a try?
