what is the use for it? any benefits to in-game battle performance other than being "pretty"?

so far its just a place to hang out and collect vanity items. however, we won't know 100% until someone actually buys a damn house.

I think It would be cool if people used the houses as gathering places for Guild chats and maybe have a Guild HeadQuarters
