Now that we are like 3-4 weeks in I believe how is everyone enjoying it?
I like the game a lot, I really get into the FATE system which is pretty neat. (Pretty sure GW has this though)
Only thing I don't like so far is I feel they could have spent more time to making spell casting and the actual spells look cool when doing damage.
Awesome we have teleport/warp which is pretty neat and a sprint!
How do you guys feel?

Overall having a blast. Haven't stuck with an MMO for this long or enjoyed playing it this much since WoW (I've tried Aion, Tera, DCUO, GW2 - none of them remotely compare to this.)

Likes:
- Main storyline / storyline quests rocks, even though a lot of it has been pretty predictable/cliche so far.
- Dungeons have interesting encounters starting from pretty early on, and get more interesting as you go higher up in levels.
- Queue times when playing as a tank or a healer.
- The graphics and the music / overall feel of the game. Really does feel like you're in an FF world.

Dislikes:
- 2.5sec GCD
- FATE farming gets repetitive pretty quickly, and it becomes the only way to level up alt classes at some point. They really need to make all quests repeatable on a per-class/Job basis rather than only letting you do them once.
- Lack of an open world - everything is zoned out; if WoW could do an open world 10 years ago, you'd think SQEnix could figure out how to do it now.

It's been fun, but the community seems really weak. The interaction is very low compared to other MMO's like Ultima Online or something. FATEs are OK, but were already done in GW2, and they get boring fast.

The story is laughably obvious and cookie cutter. Also, the lack of voice acting is annoying. It's 2013, what gives on the 20 seconds of voice acting every 10 gameplay hours?

I think the world is gorgeous though. I could use a bit more variety in landscapes, but I really do like the world overall.

Did my first dungeon yesterday and other than the 50 minute wait time, it was fun.

I've been sticking with it, but I can't help feel like I am playing a more childish and mundane FF12, with a worse story, and more typical MMO-ey ness.

Character progression is a tad slow, but I am still having fun up until this point so *shrug*

If only I had other friends on Japanese time to play with..

My guild is always inactive, but that`s how it is.

Awesome awesome.
One of my main issues is I can't decide which kind of character I like.
I keep making different one's just because they look cool.
I do feel like they had a lot more "time to be put in from the player" in FFXI.
I remember doing dune parties for hours or even just WAITING to get in a party for hours.
I almost wish they would just redo FFXI new graphics same everything but with a new expansion coming out and freaking fixing the partying system. I would never quit that game if they did that.
Feel like they had 100 times more spells for casters also in FFXI than they do for this one.

I do agree the community is weak
I absolutely hate any cross-server interaction. Duty finder ruins a game.
Yes, its faster, which is perfect for the "casuals" who just want to get into a group fast. Fast is relative, as its still a long wait at times as a DPS lol
But its the fact that you don't have to shout for a party, or shout for help. You can complete the game and get max levels without knowing anyone at all.

I loved FFXI in the fact that you literally knew almost everyone on your server. If you didnt, you could ask your linkshell and they would tell you about how they played, and any rumors they heard about said player.
It promotes a good community. If you suck, people wont pick you for groups. You don't progress unless you really up your game and show people that your a good player to work with. If you had a hard time following directions, you'd be left behind.
So it was not only learning about how to play the game, but how to work together as a community.
And I feel that is what makes a great game. Not the story, not the fighting, but the actual group that you are with in a game. Its what gives any game "life", because you really are interacting with others.

I love the game.

I can't ever focus though because I love the fact I can take multiple skills from other classes and throw them into my main.

This makes me want every damn character so I can mix and match skills. So fucking awesome.

You all think Gw2 was the first with Fates? No one play Rift? One of the best graphical MMO's with a lot to do. Anyways....

My favorite things about FFXIV:
-Being able to add some skills from other classes onto other classes.
-Crafting System
-Armory Inventory for Gear and A separate Inventory for junk / Crafting.
-1 Character can be any Class
-FF Music DUHHHHH
-Fate XP is amazing and fun in groups.
-Too many to list right now.
- Love not having an Open World.(For this MMO) I think it brings back the soul of gaming. Not being able to run and jump off random ass cliffs.
-Story Line
-Environmental GFX.

Cons that I see fixed over time for any new game
-Auto-Dismount when attacking or clicking on NPC
-Duty Finder needs improvement
-Story Quest should offer a lot more XP to allow more side questing / leve quests on Alts
-Traveling Pre 20 is a drag.
- Character Animation GFX
- Dialogue
- Target system when using controller (in fates or dungeons)

I will have to agree with you on all that.

You can't really complain about the last point... you ARE playing a mmorpg on a console, afterall...

I am not playing an MMORPG on a console. I am using a controller on my desktop.

I love what they did with the controller settings. I just wish there was a better more accurate way to toggle between enemies because its sometimes can select something really far away.

At least when I am not in a group it shouldn't target other people and only mobs when in a fate.

Overall one of the best controller sets up for an MMO. My opinion at least.

Also not a complaint. Just wish it was better. None of my complaints are complaints. As I feel most of them will be adjusted with patches down the road.
