I received a beta invite and I'm wondering if it's worth my time.

Well, good think next beta phase is open phase and whatever you do in that phase is gnna carry over to the launch, so if you decide to get it, you will know you didnt waste any of your time during the last beta phase. The game is like other mmos, but be open minded. They take a little from every mmo out. I never played WoW but some people say its like it. Bosses use moves that show icons on the floor, the only mmo Ive seen that from is Secret World. There random events that come of on different maps which are pretty cool, thats from rift. I miss 1.0 even tho it was horrible, idk why, but most people will tell you the same. From the 35 levels you get in the beta, the story stops at lvl 20. But overall it was good, and fun. You can solo all the way up thru the quests from beginning to end, but you wont be able to do that with all jobs, just maybe 1 or 2 jobs. I like the craft system now instead of the old one, and as far as harvesting, I never got to it. The dungeons were pretty nice, something to do while you got free time, along with behest and leves. Im not sure your type of gaming, if you come from a WoW stand point, you prolly wont like it as it will feel like a repeat, but go ahead and try the beta, and dont get off like most of these idiots do that criticize the game after only hitting level 10 and saying it sucks. Play longer.

Na to be honest it's not that great, the battle system in it is just crap, and they still have a lot of work to do on the game which half the shit that needs fixing I have been hearing they are not even going to bother to fix it, the battle system being one of them

In other words, its beta. I'm really enjoying it, just depends on what you like.

If you enjoyed FFXI, WoW, GW2, and/or RIFT then you prolly will enjoy this game.

Myself, I like it cuz of the story sofar, good cutscenes, the gathering/crafting system is extremely detailed and intricate (some people just wanna hit a button and craft 100x things tho, could be a downside), no need for alts EVER in this game, combat has a 2.5sec GCG instead of your typical 1.5sec, plenty of Final Fantasy fanservice (ofc), the armor looks great, character models also are great, emotes are just awesome, many different ways to level (levequest, guildhest, FATE, story line, side quests, hunting log), and this game just looks great.

So yea will you like it? Who knows. Is it worth your time to check out? Yea.

I am loving the story and am regretting how far I have advanced in the beta, because i will have to choose a new starting city or restart the story from scratch, but it is very deep. The combat feels just a bit slow with the long global cool down and very few spells/ abilities to choose from. The lvl sync keeps content in all zones fun, (and makes some story quests hard) even if you are too high you can participate without crushing everything in your wake. my experience the game play scaled to the number of people you wanted to play with well. I have not tried crafting/gathering yet wanted one class to 20 first.

The game is basically new since they started remaking the crappy original XIV from scratch even fired the old producer and some of his team.

I like the game so far as a BETA its kind of fun i see a lot of potentials in it.The only thing i dont think will be appealing to some would be battle system since its more like WoW or mostly other MMORPG thats pretty much standard these days.

To me persoanally, its totally worth it.Probably the only game since D3 that i really anticipated the official release.

Going to turn out just like Tera did.

Became somewhat big during beta/release.

Slowly dwindle down to nothing.
