the backup was 2 months old. Not playing anymore

It's funny because I had just completed Kikoku that prior Sunday.

Every item obtainable, I had. Ridill/Kclub/D.ring/Haute/All Abj's/etc etc. And the dumbass server admin wiped the server and says "Oops, sorry guys. You can all just restart now"

lolz were had. It was fun while it lasted though! Server is doomed because admin is an absolute joke.

That's why you don't trust in private servers when the retail is still active.. only people who are really serious about it keep games alive after the retail version is demised.

That's a flat out lie. As a programmer for a game company I can GUARANTEE you that they had nightly data warehouse back ups at the minimum. If they actually rolled everything back 2 months it's because either there was a dupe someone was exploiting they didn't want people to know about or they actually wanted people to switch games. I highly doubt the second option because bad PR like that can cause lots of prospective players to stay away from their future games.

This was a private server, there was nothing professional about it. I can't imagine they had a data warehouse. Official FF11 servers ftw.

I know the person that made the mistake causing the wipe.
Then I spoke directly (not typing but speaking) to the lead of the entire project and he said "we haven't made a back up since may". I asked him if its difficult to do and he said "nope not at all. We simply did not care to do it because it with each update"

I know the person that messed up though and we were all talking on teamspeak as he was performing the update that wiped It all
