I have a PS3 beta key that I've been using. For Phase 4 I remember reading that you'll need to purchase the PS3 version to play it early. Does anyone know how that works? Like... Will you download it from the PSN since it won't be shipped early or do you just not get the pre-order early access?

Phase 4 will be open beta. Anyone can join and create a char without being invited/having a key. PC/PS3 will both be open. Will last approximately 1-2 weeks according to: http://gdl.square-enix.com/ffxiv/download/en/FFXIV_2.0_BETA_Roadmap_EN.pdf

Now I can't find a link to it but I remember seeing that the pre-order early access will be 2-3 days before Phase 4 begins, since the data will carry over the week long Phase 4 open beta is essentially the start of the game.

Supposedly they won't wipe either

open beta is never a wipe... not to my recollection of any mmo I have betad.

Several Aeriagames wiped during beta. (Eden Eternal being one of them)

It's just the discretion of the game makers. Tera was supposibly wiping, but changed their minds at the last minute.

That's all well and good but how do you get access? Is it using the same client it uses now?

Early access is "1-3 days" after phase 4, not before. Also, the only way that they will wipe it will probably be if something catastrophic happens. I.E. half of the character transfers go wrong.

phase 4 will be open beta, so you can continue playing with your ps3 or pc beta code. come time for early release, you will need to have purchased the game.

oh then early access isnt a big deal then, since there will be no wipes for open beta it's just like everyone has early access and then you just get to play for 3 days more in between the open beta and launch rofl
