Not sure if there's been a thread created about this (I doubt it, seeing as I lurk this sub-forum everyday and it's all MMO crap for the most part). I had no idea they were already working on the third and final installment of the XIII saga so I figured I'd share the trailer.



Think I'm one of the few that actually enjoyed XIII/XIII-2 so I was curious how people felt about this one. I wasn't particularly happy with how they ended XIII-2 so I'm glad they're tying together loose strings. Evidently the developers think of XIII as being "story driven," XIII-2 as being "character driven" and Lightning Returns as being "world driven." I can sort of see that. The trailer itself only shows Lightning in the party and a single-class paradigm in the trailer and as much as I enjoyed monsters being a part of the team in XIII-2, I really hope they don't make gradually make the game feel more... lonesome.

What are your thoughts? Angry? Nervous? Won't buy it? Hella excited? At this point I'm just trying to spark some conversation as I just learned of this sequel this morning.

I am honestly scratching my head about that XIII Versus I think it was going to be called, it was going to be a PS3 exclusive. What happened with that one? I was actually interested in it, but seems like it hasn't even been brought up lately. Noone ever talks about it. I think I saw a rumor it was cancelled, but who knows?

I honestly don't like them milking the XIII number though, sequels are just meh imo. I like games where the story is apparently wrapped up at the end of the game, quit finding new ways to bring them back! lol. Bottom line what I'm getting at, I'd rather see fresh ideas, rather than a 3rd XIII game of the same story.

Versus... damn. I really have no clue what went on with that. I could've sworn I had both XIII and Versus pre-ordered on Amazon but only ever got XIII and wasn't even refunded for Versus I don't think haha. I see where you're coming from regarding the XIII trilogy though, just be done with it, why keep drawing this out when we could be playing new material? It's sort of a double-edged sword for me, I think had they completely wrapped up the Cocoon/Gran Pulse story at the end of XIII-2 it would've either overwhelmed the player with two hours of dialogue or underwhelmed them with a half-assed vague ending (sort of like the actual ending, actually...).

I'm kind of lukewarm about XIII and XIII-2 but will surely play this. Will this be the last one for PS3?

It'll be the last of this specific storyline, yeah. There will be another installment in a new setting with a new cast that still deals with the "crystarium" and L'cie and focuses and whatever else though.

Edit: I'm sure you also know about the FFX high definition remake for the PS3.
