In my opinion VII is but a hair on the ass-cheek of VIII, but to each their own. No they never did do an HD remake of the game, you're stuck with the native PSX version or the version they released for PC. I'm sure you could find some PC mods that make the game look a tad bit better.

All there is the original psx and pc version. This does game does not need a remake, neither does ff7. Especially while square-enix is at the helm. Their track record at making a great game does not compare to squaresoft.

7 and 8 are both great games

I prefer 7's gameplay, but 8 does have a better story

you should definetely try out 7, and pretty much all of the first 10 FFs if you can

Unfortunately there really aren't any mods for FF8 like there are for the FF7 PC version. There's really only a small handful on Qhimm, compared to the hundreds that exist for FF7. The texture packs for FF8 I've seen, don't even make the game look much better, I can't even tell a difference when I saw them honestly.

I dont think there is a HD version of FF8

you could get a PS1 version for a few bucks from e'bay and try it on a emulator with a HD reasolution setting if you already own a original PS1

there is a HD remake of FF7 for PC to download in the square enix store for 10$

also there is a HD version of FFX in work, but no release date yet

What? No there isn't, it's just the regular PC version. It just has some achievments and a character booster in it. It is by no means an HD remake.
