im aware, I played on the fiary server from NA launch till 2007, hit 100 on many crafts, and 75 on more than a few jobs. The games a joke now. Needing an alliance to accomplish end game stuff is what makes it fun and challengeing. I was in the first NA linkshell to get a defending ring from KB. The games old and played out, they made it simple to attract people back. The overhaul of ffxiv they are doing is basically making it back into an early FFXI.
The only thing you have me on is some people might not own a pc able to play ffxiv in which case i cant help you :/
It made it challenging, not fun. And your "LS" got the ring, only 1 person got it. The game was so backwards back in the day. In 95%+ of HNM LS, the leader(s) of the LS got all the drops, while everyone else got shafted. I don't know how much time I wasted in a LS just to come out with nothing, and only a few people get something. They realized this drove SO many people away, I give SE credit, they are smart.
And it's really not more simple, there are a lot of things that have become more complex to do, but more rewarding once you understand how. Like dynamis for example. Also, there is plenty of challenging stuff left in the game, just look at NNI and VWNM, you actually need skilled players to accomplish anything there, and in the case of VWNM you actually need a full alliance. But where the game has become smarter, people get their own individual drops landed to them. Granted, the drop rates have been lowered a little bit, but now you don't have to help people out for absolutely no reason since everyone gets a chance of getting good drops of their own. The game is WAY more efficient than it used to be.
Oh, and also, there is no hours of waiting for exp parties anymore, which is also a huge bonus. I do miss old school exp parties, but I'll take getting instant exp parties over waiting an hour+ any day.
