It's not going to take 100+ hours though, the game is to linear.

took me roughly 100 hours to get 1000 gamerscore. the treasure hunter took forever. grinded adamantoise for HOURS

That's your problem. Grinding Adamantoise turns out to be slower than actually in Orphans Cradle. Triple the speed.
