After I beat Legend of Dragoon (I forget how long of a game it is, I didn't even up beating it as a kid, just watched my homie play through some of it) I think I'll tackle Final Fantasy VII for the first time in 10 years. I don't bash it, I just never considered it to be 'OMFGZ LEET AMAZING SETZ THE STANDARDZ FOR JRPGZ."

Feel free to rant/vent/argue how much you love or hate it/tell me about your day/whatever. This is both my favorite and most boring sub-forum on d2jsp.

^^ i first played ffvii when i was 9 or 10. my sister got stuck on demon gate in temple of the ancients, and i randomly turned on her file and beat it (knowing how to play just by watching her)

so decided to start my own file. played it about a dozen times since finding somthing new about it every time. theres a lot of depth to the story, far more than it seems, and if you really get into it and realize how many parts connect together that seem meaningless at first, thats what makes it peoples favorite.

although it isnt hard(besides maybe a couple bosses your first time through), and the materia system being rather basic, on a generic 20-25 hour playthrough, it is easy to understand why people might think this game is over rated. (all my files last 70+ hours)


any how i hope you have fun playing. all final fantasies are worth revisiting once in a while.

Just got platinum of FF13, I do not suggest actually playing that much FF13. Have fun with FF7 but I do agree with you on not thinking it's as great s others, I have put a few 100 hour files in just to have a game to play, but try playing Star Ocean Till The End Of Time, that is if you can get you hands on a copy, or emulate it Great game, easily 100-250 Hours worth of play depending on your play type, ex. Clear the game, Beat game 100%.

Best of luck, I'm undecided on FFX or FF9 atm, Want to do 10 but with it getting released on ps3 I may just wait.

Game is incredible, but overrated as fuck IMO. Still, play it it's worth it!

IX is an incredible piece of RPG. There is literally one thing I disliked about it, and that would be the Chocobo Treasure sidequest. I remember I was like 12 or 13 and went to Blockbuster to rent VIII. The employees told me they were out of VIII, but that they had just received IX and weren't allowed to sell it for another week. By some miracle the guy was really cool and saw I was bummed out and sold it to me a week before anyone in the state (region, for that matter) was able to play it. I felt Kuja had a Kefka-esque feel to him, and the latter portions of the game were downright dark.

HF, it's a great game, I've beaten it 3 times (last time was just around March). It won't be as great as the first play through though..



If you don't have the International version of FFX, with the Dark Aeons and stuff, I'd go for FFIX. It's a good idea to save your playthrough for that full version, it's amazing, and even though the US version is still fun, you'd miss out the real challenge

Duuuudeee the chocobo sidequest is awesome, how can you dislike it! And yeah, Kuja is badass, especially when his epic theme plays and he has that "I don't give a shit about anything" look.

Kuja's theme is awesome, but trance Kuja's is just amazing

Chocobo hot and cold is frustrating as fk though, like all chocobo sidequests

Alright I'll play through FFIX, I have completed all of the FF Series besides Crisis, Dissidia but I wouldn't even bother with those ones anyway. Just lookin for a game to tie me down : ) thanks for opinions.
