wanting to start a ff online game. which 1 would does everyone play and which 1 would be recommended?

Never played 14 and only heard bad reviews.

Played 11 for 4-5 years and restarted for a month around 3 months ago, but decided to quit because the game had changed way too much (for me that is, an original player). But it's still a great game.

Yeah XI certainly isn't what it used to be. It pisses me off how many people gimp up jobs, and noone forms real parties anymore to hang out and exp in real zones. Fuck abyssea, I avoid it as much as I can. It's still a fun game, but you gotta have some friends or it might be a little boring.

The only thing that is better about XI compared to years ago is that it is much more accessible now, it's not impossible to do stuff alone like it used to be. But, at the same time it's a little too easy(comparitively speaking to how it used to be), so the whole dynamics of the game has changed. Definitely was better in the past.

Edit: bottom line is, pick XI, and try to make some decent friends ASAP.

^ Nah. I think that FFXI was one of the truest games to the entire franchise. It was more FF-y than most FF games. It was one of the most popular MMOs on the market for a while.

Plaed ff11 for 6-8 years, ever since the level cap changed past 75 the game has never been the same. Level caps on the "HARDEST" quests in the game that everyone put there efforts into dropped and were than soloable by ur high level job. Gear that took months to obtain are useless now with the new gear that came out. All in all, if you woulda asked this question 4 years ago, 11 all the way, truly the best mmo you could play.

Now, i would say go with 14, at first the game was all that, but now being on patch 1.19 the game has changed ALOT that its worthy of playing and it could only get better. Im really enjoying ff14 right no after being disappointed at launch. You should start 14 seing as its brand new, and 11 is near its end

It is getting better, but it still has a long way to go.

I don't think 11 is near it's end, I don't see the end in sight yet. It'll last for years to come. And if you are talking about fighting Maat being one of the hardest quests, I don't really think so. It was challenging but not super hard. And all of the top old gear isn't completely useless. A lot of it is still better than a lot of what is out there, and a lot of it is great situational gear still. FFXI has actually done a lot better job making sure that old gear isn't completely useless after level cap upgrades compared to other MMOs. Compare it to a game like WoW and you'll know what I"m talking about, all gear in that game from the 60 cap(epic gear) is way shittier than even just regular rare gear.
