These threads are starting to get very redundant and boring. I'm curious how you all got into the Final Fantasy franchise. Is it more of a pastime for you? Do you still religiously crank out ~15 hours a day completing disc after disc, sidequest after sidequest?

I, personally, was introduced to the PSX games at 11 years old. I had watched my friend play VII time and time again, for the most part knew the entire plot and was lucky enough to be over there when he beat the game. It took a while but I finally convinced my mom to take me to Wal Mart or Trade A Game or whatever it was, and she hooked it up with Final Fantasy VIII and the BradyGames strategy guide to go with it. At that age, without a doubt my reading abilities sky-rocketed, I learned to make better use of my imagination, and was able to get a good grasp on heroism, love, destiny, one's own true calling, before I was old enough to even have to deal with those sort of obstacles.

Easily one of the more memorable, molding days of my childhood/teenage years.

Pretty sure it was either 97 or 98. My friend told me he got a pretty awesome computer game that he wanted me to see. Turns out it was FF7. I still remember watching him play it for the first time. It was the area in Nibelheim mountains where you learn Trine from those spider monsters or whatever they were. Not long after I bought the game myself. After that, I spent many summers of my childhood taking turns with friends playing FF5, FF6, FF7, FF8, FF9, FF10, and FFTactics. One person would play one of those while the other two would shoot pool. Must have been about 4 or 5 FF filled summers with my friends.

think I was 11, my best friend lived pretty far away and we normally went to each others houses every 2 weekends. One weekend at his place his family had a dinner at some other house and they took me there with them, there was a girl there about our age who was playing FF VII, that's how it all started. After that school year finished I got my parents to buy me a videogame since my grades were really nice, I wanted FFVII but when we went to the videogame store I was pointed out they had just released FFIX and so I got that one instead. I spent the whole summer playing it and after I beat it, I bought VII and VIII and beat them too. Later would come the Nintendo remakes, the PS2 FFs and finally the emulator to play some other stuff. I stopped playing new FFs after playing XII.

As for how I play these games, I normally play them during vacation, I like to have time to really get into them. I also like to complete them 100%, maybe I skip some parts on my first run, but I definately always complete all the sidequests, get all the summons, etc on my second run.

Ahhh good ole final fantasy. my days with final fantasy start off in 93. i was 10 years old and got started on final fantasy 2. lol my mother tried over and over and over again to figure out where the magma key goes. eventually she gave up and decided to move on to ff3. (personally one of my favorites) I being 10 years old managed to beat ff2 without a guide and managed to get 90% of what was in the game. lol. i still on occasion decide to play ff2 on my emulator. doest take more then a day or 2 to completely beat it lmao. Without a doubt my reading skills sky rocketed. Once i was willing to actually read in the game lol. I havent had much time to try and catch up to all the new ff games but hopefully sometime soon i will be able to lol.

It's ok. My poverty stricken mother got scared and had me move in with my auntie and uncle in Bel-Air.

My first game was Final Fantasy 7. I was with my parents looking around a Market, and At the time I was on a games stand with some ps1 games, My step dad came over to look also, and FF7 was there for 10 pound. I picked it up to see what it was like, and I became hooked on it, My dad said, about there being a final fantasy 8. He said I could have it only if I beat ff7 first I didn't beat it at that time but I said I did. :P He got me ff8 to, and later on ff9 for my birthday on the opening of the game. and from there I became a fan of the Franchise.
