Just realized my old PS1 CD's work in my PS3. So I started playing FF7 again, it kept freezing so I cleaned the CD and tried everything I could to make it work. If I buy FF7 from the PS store will it let me start from my save point?

I don't see reason why it wouldn't let you to. Can't test it though since I lost the first disc of FF7.
