Having never played one of these games all the way through... I'm interested in trying one of the newer ones out.

What's the best/newest one I can get for PC?

What's the best/newest one I can get for any console? (I've got 'em all)

for PC? I think only 7/8/ and XI are for PC and XI is online mmo that u need to pay for.

For console I would say 10, tactics or anothologies (5/6) for ps.

Was thinking I'd probably go with 10. I might have it lying around somewere anyway. I played XI on the PS2 and it was stupid. Everything cost like 999999999 gil. And the community was horrible. I didn't play it for more than a week before I just quit.

^ IDK what game you were playing, but FFXI has an awesome community, the friendliest of any MMO I've played. And yeah, the best stuff is expensive(just like every other game ever invented).

About what you asked:

The newest for PC is FFVIII, which is also the best. So if you are looking to buy one for PC get FFVIII, it's better than VII.

The newest for console is XIII. The best is either Tactics, or FFVIII, both for PS1. The ones that are the most worth getting though are 6 through 10 (that includes Tactics). Most people will probably say that 7 is the best or the favorite, but I think it has a lot more flaws in story and gameplay relative to the others. The one advantage of it is that it's really easy to pick up and play, which is a good thing. Probably why it's the most popular.

lol i was going to refrain from being a dick but yeah....FF11 easily has the best community in any MMO. The reason he prolly didnt like it is because he is a kid and acts like one..most of the people who play FF11 are older and more mature, it isnt like wow.

I was pretty young, I got it not too long after it came out. I only played it for a week, like I said, and the only people I actually talked to seemed pretty closed-off to new people.

I've never played WoW, and I can't stand games with a really immature community. That's one of the biggest reasons why games like Maplestory suck.

I'm also looking for a game that isn't 100% focused on the storyline. I'd like to be able to go around and explore a bit, and maybe do some side quests or something as well.

I think I'll try and find a torrent for FFVIII. Might go out and buy FFX at some point this week. Also, anyone else got an opinion on FFXIII? I was thinking of checking it out.

For now I'm gonna play some Earthbound... : )

final fantasy 13 focuses alot on just the story till you hit chapter 11, thats where all the side quests come in, either that or you can wait till you beat the game and you can go back to chapter 11 and finish the side quests that way

imo XI is one the better final fantasys, the game at first does seem like alot, its based around more mature players (if you have a good server) best way to play it is to be social, its not a game that you can go through all by yourself you have to group up with people, givin 1~10 isnt fun its the true test if your dedicated enough to actually play, and most likely you played back before the huge changes
