first off, this the old model, playstation 1
and ive never used a playstation before
im tryin to play chrono cross i tried disc 1 and 2 and i tried the options memory card and cd player options and theres nothing to select that will start the game in any way
any1 no wats goin on? ty

As far as I know, you put the CD in and it plays it.

for some reason i tried turning the PS1 upside down .. and then the playstation logo shows up and freezes

Take the CD out, wipe it off. Make sure the PS1 isn't damaged. If that doesn't help, then I don't know what else to suggest.

its not reading the disc and when it does the disc is too fucked up, that's why it goes to cd. use rubbing alcohol on the disc and hope for the best.

After reading over this again, I think you mean you have a PS2. iirc, the PS1 didn't have the option to view options, memory card, and CD player.

iirc = if I recall correctly

leave the lid open
use a clotheshanger or paperclip to spin the disc(top right button inside where when the lid is closed it pushed the button enabling it to spin)

push the button down all the way, the disc will spin, first signs of it stopping, release the button and push again, it will force over any skips or scratches AT THAT PART of the disc

essentially you need to do this for every error, but most common is at the logo screen
