I'm assuming you're talking about Taming Pole. You can transform it using a transformation stone.
You need a Uraninite to transform it, then you can start upgrading it again.

Each character have different weapons. They are all accessible in the shop, so if you want one that satisfies you, go ahead and buy them. Of course, they are only available in the shop as you progress further in the game, that means there are no "Hidden weapons" as far as I am concerned with.

Normally, the weapon that has no ability attached to it is the strongest [ magic / strength wise ]. But people prefer weapons with ability in sacrifice of strength or magic. So whatever you want to use is up to you.

As far as I can say, I would choose Lionheart over Gladius for Lightning simply because Lionheart ability is Quick Stagger. Of course, the downfall is that the weapon is weaker.

When you level your weapon to "star" level, you can use a certain Transformation Stone to transform your weapon. It will not produce an ability, simply just make it stronger.

So your timing pole will transform into another timing pole, but stronger and with a different name. At first it won't be stronger, because it's going to be at a lower level, but once you upgrade it, it will be stronger overall.

e; A weapon that has Stagger Lock will be stronger than a weapon that has no ability to it, because Stagger Lock is a downfall ability in return for much more strength / magic.
