So yeh i hit chapter 12 and im still using the crap lvl 1 weps got 700k gil and looking to upgrade a weapon for lightning and hope.. which weapon should i upgrade? also why

If you're on chapter 12 you probably got Lionheart for Lightning, upgrade and put the evolution stone that start by S ( Selitite? ) It'll be ultima.

i dont get what you mean by evolution stone?

you mean when you upgrade a weapon from 1-25 then it turns to lvl (star) then you use a catalyst and then level it to 26-55 then its a (star) level again then catalyst again to lvl 56-xx (duno what the lvl is) ?

and why lion heart it has the lowest stats of the omega weapons :D?

Make and Dismantle Kains Lance several times over.

its wut i use, high damage and nothing bad with it

use organics and you lose atb speed

use lionheart and u lose alot of dmg, bsides i dnt use light as a stagger person
