Well, finally got FFxi setup, installed, and updated yesterday.

Anybody have any information to give to a new player? =)

Been messing around on it for like 8 hours, and only lvl 8, lol >.<

I picked the Shiva server, don't know any differences between them.

Anyways, if you have any tips, go ahead and tell me please.

just play the game without getting help. thats what the game was made for. if you want help to spare you some time then you shouldnt have bought it :S

Leveling up your character makes him stronger.

wow whats with the bunch of fucking closet monsters on this forum

Buy any maps you can get.
Keep the 'beastmen seals' (you'll learn about them later.)
You can sell the crystals you get from monsters at the auction house for easy starting gil.
Make sure to always get signet from the NPC in whichever nation you picked.
You'll be solo leveling til at least lv 10 (then you can party with people in the 'Valkurm Dunes' area.)
Starting new is quite annoying, and the leveling can seem to take along time. Once you get the hang of it, get some decent gear, and get your support job quest, the game gets much better.
