I've heard a lot about FF and supposedly it's a good game, right?

Well I hate the turn based RPG stuff, but I've heard some of them are more like hack-and-slash type games, sort of like Elder Scrolls (oblivion) or Diablo. You know?

What FF would be best for me?

None, what you want are action RPG's. Zelda series, Secret of Mana series, Soulblazer series

Kids today...they are the reason there are no good turn-based RPG's being made anymore...

They haven't ever appealed to me. Just a turn off when wanting to game. I heard that the newer FF were hack-and-slash style though...true? Not true?

Got a PSP? That's the only system that runs FF:CC.

FFX isn't a bad one to start off with. Very straightforward game.

And in this post i'm not bashing FF at all.

He wants a hack and slash. That is called an Action RPG if you are unfamiliar with RPG types. Final Fantasy does not have action RPG's besides Crysis Core maybe and Final Fantasy Adventure (which doesn't count because Final Fantasy Adventure is actually Secret of Mana, but I doubt you knew any of that either).

So I gave him a bunch of action RPG selections; Soul Blazer, Zelda, Secret of Mana series

I don't have a problem with FF, I just think FF7 is the most overrated game ever. The rest of the series is great, and FF7 is a good game, it's just not the geatest game or even greatest console RPG ever, nor is it even the best in the series. But for people like you who's first RPG was probably FF7 and who have never played any RPG's that weren't made by Squaresoft, I can see why you'd be naive enough to think otherwise.
