Took me about 8 hours total my first time to get a gold one lol
second time took me about 4 i dont think you can do it much faster than that.

i mated golds together they were even better in races had like infinite stamina ran super fast

Lol on FF9 all i had to do was lvl him up. it was cool there was gold chocobos, red chocobos, blue chocobos, and plain pale colored yellow chocobos. The gold plain could only walk on flat ground. Red could walk on Mountains + Flat Ground. Blue could walk on Mountains + Flat Ground + Shallow Water. Gold could walk on Mountains + Flat Ground + Shallow Water + Fly.

Yea it was a pain in the ass for me too, I wasn't sure with all the greens you had to feed them and all that good stuff. Took me a few trys to get a colored one.

breeding chocobo is incestuous

it was pretty cool tough in the beggining but then it got easy after a while

I definately hated breeding chocobos.. But it added another element to the game, so it wasn't too bad. ;]
