no actually its probably the easiest to beat without a guide. However, the game is one of the few that allow for side quests, which in fact, is why everyone says this is one of the best games ever.

There will be a few parts where they only give a hint where to go, rather than the actual name, pay attention and you'll be fine. Otherwise, you can always google the strat guide. (I recommend playing the game your first time without one)

if you have any questions, please feel free to post here, or if your too embarrassed (dont be) post here so myself and others can offer our opinions on what you can be doing to enhance your gameplay.

Good luck!

Ehm... I'm pretty sure 6, 8 - 10 & 13 have more side quests than 7.
And I think all FF games have side quests.

yes indeed they all do. It wasn't meant to compare vs other ff's but I can see what ya mean.

However, the newer ones dont allow for so much randomness, many only have sidequests that are limited to certain areas. I may not explain it entirely the right way,

but ff7 allows for more exploration than the others in my opinion (and def more than other games)

I was wondering what would happen if they ever decided to remake FF7, if there would be talking or not and if they'd remake it well

are you sure that wasnt just the ps3 tech demo. aka a technology demonstration in which they used ff7 as their example.

FF 7 Tip

If anyone who isn't too familiar on enemy skills, I will give you a great tip that's not usually mentioned in any of the guides or anything; White Wind is a fuckin' crazy enemy skill you can get really early in the game (basically after you get Cait Sith and have his Manipulate). You go just outside of Cosmo Canyon and look for a dude called a Zemzelette (he looks like a demented cactus lol) and manipulate him. He has 3 moves, 2 are just shitty attack moves, and he'll have White Wind. Use it on your entire party (by this time you should have 2 Enemy Skill materias) so have them equipped on someone and voila! The reason why this move is so great is that it may seem like it has low cure at first, but once you entire party levels up, it gets greater and greater; it also relieves many abnormal statuses (it even removes stop, and slow!)

oh and by this time, you can go to about any beachline and look for those blue oyster kinda lookin' things to get Big Guard, but that's in most of the guides

enemy skills fucking dominate as you go through the game. after fort condor, i went back and killed the midgar zolom (my guys were lvl 20 somethin) but ofc i had to use elemental materia+fire on clouds armor. and he was the only person left standing when done.

none the less if you get beta that early youre set for a while.

also you can get aqualung early too from the harpies near gold saucer on the chocobo tracks. that dominates even more.

and then of course magic breath you can learn in the mountains at the beginning of disk2(forget the name of the monster), also extrememly strong when you get it.
