They both have their Pros / Cons
The only thing that swayed my vote to FF8... was the fact the when your characters levelled up (no matter where you are)
The minions/monsters also levelled up with you... this gave a bit more balance than FF7...

In FF7 you could just sit in one place and kill, kill, kill, kill, kill and kill more upto like 10 extra levels... but the monsters remained the same level
In FF8 you kill and gain XP... so did they...

I personally LOVED 8. I've tried to play 7 many times but I could never really get into it.. Not sure why.

But 8 was so much fun, I loved the GFs, the fighting system, the draw system and refining. It was just a cool way to make you explore the map to get the best stuff.

I agree, Final Fantasy VIII was magnificent. It brought a brand new scheme of gathering magicks, and having the monsters gain levels along with the heroes just added amazing challenge, which made me at least grow caution as to how many levels I should gain at what time in the beautiful land.

I personally think FF7 is the best of all the series although ive yet to play any after X-2.

I found FF8 a little dissapointing, but since im a hardcore FF fan it will always be one of my favourite games along with every other ff ive played to date but mostly due to triple triad.

I find the FF series a great game to play most of them have good storylines and interesting towns / npcs, mini games and party members, i personally play ff7 from start to finish every year / 2 when its a busy year of the 9 times ive completed it (i first completed it in 1997 played t hrough with my best mate daniel) i have completed at 99% 6 times and 100% 3 times. I often look back to the summer holidays playing in the gold saucer with the sun blazing outside or trying to stop the train from crashing for the huge materia and summon materia. Man good times..
