the battle systems were fairly plain. but you do have to start from some where. i played these games shortly after they came out and the turn based battle system was more advanced than any other fight system in any other game for the time.
you give way to much flak on these games.

now for a restatement.

you say:

but what should have been said is:
yes we wouldnt have the '''newer'' FF games without the older being such great games to encourage the contuination of the series for so long.

if the older school ones, talking 1-6. were as garbage as you claim, they wouldnt have gone past 6 with an utter failure of such a series.
but since they WERE really good games they continued the series so you can have your precious 10 and 12 in which you so adore.

and by the way, 12 year olds now days would think every old game is shit because the graphics "suck" and nothing beyond that.

as well for me i could go on for a long time backing up the old school games and on how you have no fair assessment on games.

what youre stating would be like a halo hater saying halo sucks because its not as "strategic" or somthing as cod4. but which wouldnt make it a bad game at all. its just more simple.

so because i played them , i have to like them?
i just didnt like them , simple as , lets just discard the graphics issue since you seem to care alot about it
the chars werent anything special ,neither were the storys , plain and boring battle systems
oh and if you think i just dislike older ff games
i could post the 1000's of things i dislike about the newer ones

FF7 may well have  be phenominal when i first played it , when i was around 10-11 when it was released
and whats more exciting than a tough guy was a big sword who has super human genes and an obviously cliche apocolyptic ending
looking back on it now , it seems to be aimed at that age,i find the story  tedius and quite frankly not exiting
not to mention all these sequels/prequels are probably going to ruin a game that so many people consider to be a '''classic'''

oh and chances are , nobody outside of asia played a FF game before 7 was released
about 12 year olds thinking that FF games are shit because of the graphics is true
why would they play ff4 ect when they could go play some game that any moron with an iq of 5 could play , like halo.

anyways i really cant be bothered typing anymore , especially since its useless
we both have our oppinions on what is good and what isnt

oh and to clear it up , by saying the ''older ff game are garbage'' i was speaking about pre FF4
