This shouldnt even be a topic. FF7 is by far the best. If you really want to know whats comes next, its FFT =)

personally. FFVII = greatest, i agree that the materia shat all over any other magic system., best storyline, followed closely by FFX
next would prolly be X-2 just the feel that you could have all 3 attack at once was pretty sick.
after that would be FFX its blitzball would be the best minigame in the series, but the US version = too easy. (every aeon down with 1 hit, same with yu yevon, AND it was yuna that struck yu yevon, so i did lvl her and the aeons up alot)
FFIX i never really got into, yet to finish it, so not 1 of my favourites, cept for the fact you could get 2 players in battles
FFVIII pretty good, but doesnt compete with the other, somewhat stupid storyline though.

ff 8 is the best cuz its the most adult ff game made all the rest are to kiddie but i do got to say i put 99 hours on ff3 back in the day lol that was a hell of game

i love both FFVIII and FFX. FFVII wasnt that great to me, even though FFVII has a cool story and cool characters, i reckon everyone is just going nuts about it for no reason. or maybe its just me. i guess it just depends on what kind of person you are
