The game is GOOD. I'm having a fun time playing it, and the story can be touching at some points.
The thing I like is all characters are played, meaning none are really useless. I really only disliked one character (Hope), but after a while not so much.
There are of course some things I dislike of course, but I can point out flaws in ANY game...
I love the combat system, it reminds me of how much fun I had with Kingdom Hearts (even though it's different). The level system, the paradigm system, and the fact you control 1 character was done quite well. Most people might dislike controlling only one character, but IMO it was put together quite well. It also means battles will not be long and drawn out, because the AI isn't stupid or anything.
I'm around 15 hours into the game, I believe I'm just starting Chapter 8 or almost done with Chapter 7.
Also: I laughed at the intro. Lightning = a soldier? The first scene is basically a train scene (FF8 anyone!?!?)? That's about it though. You don't control Lightning the entire game--- in fact, your main character is constantly being switched around in each chapter. I don't know about later chapters after 7/8 as I'm not there yet of course...
The storyline is quite good now that I'm getting further, there is always a lot of questions after every answer you receive.
