Just because the are old , doesnt mean they are good either
I have played the majority of FF games with the exception fo the GBA ones
most of them have poor battle systems , ludicrious and quite frankly stupid storylines (FF7 in particular),With a few exceptions
Characters are horrid , most of them lacking exciting sidequests...
i could go on for hours with reasons why the games are boring and could probably only entertain 12 year olds.
the only good thing to come out of the older games were the music
yes we wouldnt have the '''newer'' FF games without the older ones, just proves Square realised the older ones needed alot of improving thus why the games have got gradually better (in my oppinion) , except for 9 which was probably the worst in the whole series.
oh btw it seems you jumped on the bandwaggon of pretending graphics and gameplay doesnt matter , aslong as the game is old its all good
lmao...
90% of the old games for nes and snes are AWFUL. the final fantasy series how ever was a huge success for the snes along with the super mario series and some rogue games, like secret of mana, chrono chross and link to the past on snes
graphics
definatly dont matter, game play obviously does. and most of the stories are fairly entertaining and indepth, ludacris yes. but thats what made them awesome. and most of the characters are pretty badass, like cecil, kain from ff4 are dope, i had more fun playing ff4 and ff3 than i did playing ff10. so i have no idea wtf you are talking about.
and the ff7 story is phenominal, hence why it is so famous. but youre right, there arnt many side quests but still great games. you are litterally the first person in my entire life ive seen that actually thinks the old ff games are bad that has actually played them. so you are either bullshitting when you said youve played them. or your just one of them new age gamers who compares old school games to brand new ones which is a completely unlogical thing to do because of the era they were created in and the technolegy they had at the time.
the battle systems were fairly plain. but you do have to start from some where. i played these games shortly after they came out and the turn based battle system was more advanced than any other fight system in any other game for the time.
you give way to much flak on these games.
now for a restatement.
you say:
yes we wouldnt have the '''newer'' FF games without the older ones
but what should have been said is:
yes we wouldnt have the '''newer'' FF games without the older being such great games to encourage the contuination of the series for so long.
if the older school ones, talking 1-6. were as garbage as you claim, they wouldnt have gone past 6 with an utter failure of such a series.
but since they WERE really good games they continued the series so you can have your precious 10 and 12 in which you so adore.
and by the way, 12 year olds now days would think every old game is shit because the graphics "suck" and nothing beyond that.
as well for me i could go on for a long time backing up the old school games and on how you have no fair assessment on games.
what youre stating would be like a halo hater saying halo sucks because its not as "strategic" or somthing as cod4. but which wouldnt make it a bad game at all. its just more simple.
