Yoshida (the game's producer) has said that there will be enough quests to get about 2 classes to max level, and these quests are not repeatable. There will be other methods of leveling such as dungeons and guildhests and levequests, but I believe questing will be the fastest....

So it's likely that it will take new players not so long to get their first and second lvl 50, but then it would take a bit longer to get the other 6 combat classes to 50, and then there are 3 gathering classes and 8 crafting classes to level....so it will take people quite a while still to get all lvl 50s.

I just hate this idea though
Get your first job to max level should be a hard part of the game
Getting a job after that should take less effort

I think its just stupid to rush to "end game"
It should be a challenge to get to, not something everyone gets to enjoy.

Tired of babies wanting their end game like its their right to enjoy the content because they bought the game.
I personally love end game, and I love it even more if its a challenge to get to
I want to immerse myself in the world. I want to care about what im doing and how im doing it.
Harsher penalties for failing to do it the right way. Did you just aggro a bunch of monsters thinking it would be funny? BAM, you get hit hard by burst magic, you're dead, and it'll take you over half an hour to get back to the spot you just were (not to mention any gil/xp loss)

Its the sense of actually playing a game that I want, not a game that holds you hand along the way and tells you how to do everything with blatant hints along the way.
Everything is out to get you, every turn could turn into a clusterfuck, and you really have to know your lore in order to get around

This game is different tho just by experience in 1.0. Yeah you can rush to 50 for 1 job to get to end game, but just because you "reach" it doesnt mean you will succeed. From past 1.0 experience you need skills from other jobs. Meaning you will have to level all the other jobs in order to get the full benefits to complete some of the endgame, that is challenging in my opinion. If you think your gnna be a top candidate on your ; lets say "raid" group or static group, you better think again.

thats not really what his post was directed at but whatever.

I agree though that a mmo should be as much about the journey as the destination. Older games like EQ were like this but its been lost in the last few years. Games are designed to appeal to casual players now so everything is meant to not take a lot of time or effort, but whats the point of a persistant world at all then?

I bought this game way back when it was first released in 2010, I played for max a month maybe the lag and servers were so bad. Im assuming I won't need to pay for ARR? I can't seem to find anything regarding old players who bought the game.

I'll give you the jist of it from a prior 1.0 player.

1.0:

Lag was horrid (Since all servers were based in Japan)
UI was worse, and the controls were very choppy
The grind and quest availability was pretty dull as well as the storyline.

ARR:

Lag greatly improved, NA servers now exist so spellcasting is actually amazing now.
UI became better, but it's nothing special.
The questline was their best improvement. You can solo most the way and actually have a storyline to follow rather mindlessly questing such as other big MMOs.

The quest line and plot was definitely the greatest selling point for me, it feels as if I'm playing a regular single player final fantasy and they actually placed effort into it.

I played the first beta and when it was released i understand. I was just wondering if they are expecting people who bought the old game to have to rebuy ARR, i certainly hope not cuz id never do that but you never know with greedy companies.

no cus they game obv sucked, and just like any other crappy mmo, its f2p

I hope you are joking. Lineage 2 today is nothing like it was back in their heyday many years ago and it used to be P2P back then.

It was widely considered to be one of the best open world pvp MMOs there ever was and is still a game that people use as a standard for pvp MMOs now.

Leveling and getting sub-classes in that game was brutal then.

i dont think anyone uses lineage 2 as a standard for pvp mmos. it simply wasnt that popular in the west.
