Yoshida (the game's producer) has said that there will be enough quests to get about 2 classes to max level, and these quests are not repeatable. There will be other methods of leveling such as dungeons and guildhests and levequests, but I believe questing will be the fastest....
So it's likely that it will take new players not so long to get their first and second lvl 50, but then it would take a bit longer to get the other 6 combat classes to 50, and then there are 3 gathering classes and 8 crafting classes to level....so it will take people quite a while still to get all lvl 50s.
I just hate this idea though
Get your first job to max level should be a hard part of the game
Getting a job after that should take less effort
I think its just stupid to rush to "end game"
It should be a challenge to get to, not something everyone gets to enjoy.
Tired of babies wanting their end game like its their right to enjoy the content because they bought the game.
I personally love end game, and I love it even more if its a challenge to get to
I want to immerse myself in the world. I want to care about what im doing and how im doing it.
Harsher penalties for failing to do it the right way. Did you just aggro a bunch of monsters thinking it would be funny? BAM, you get hit hard by burst magic, you're dead, and it'll take you over half an hour to get back to the spot you just were (not to mention any gil/xp loss)
Its the sense of actually playing a game that I want, not a game that holds you hand along the way and tells you how to do everything with blatant hints along the way.
Everything is out to get you, every turn could turn into a clusterfuck, and you really have to know your lore in order to get around
