Definitely FF8's. It had its problems, but I've discussed it so damn much on forums and such. It's probably because of a lot of FF8's storyline is left up to the player (e.g. who the fuck is Ultimecia?).

FF9 had my favorite story by far. I've played them all, but FF9 just did it for me. FF6 was a close second.
