4x and mine best in the end imo because u can do 9,999 x 4 then counter it and not have to watch 5 mins of KOTR <_<

but now that i think about it no ONE materia is really best, only best combos of materia types. for example most people didnt know that tricks will work for master materia doubled with leaching materia that wont work with the non master versions.
